Difference Between HLP and HVLP Hydraulic Oils

The code letter "V" for HVLP hydraulic oils indicates that these hydraulic oils have a higher viscosity rating than HLP hydraulic oils. According to DIN 51524 Part 3, the viscosity rating of HVLP hydraulic oils must be at least 140. This high viscosity rating indicates better viscosity-temperature behaviour than HLP hydraulic oils. This means that HVLP hydraulic oils are more temperature-resistant. Thus, when using HVLP hydraulic oils, compared to using HLP hydraulic oils, the hydraulic efficiency can be increased and the overall system productivity can be improved.

When selecting a suitable HVLP hydraulic oil, attention should be paid to shear stability so that the advantages of a high VI hydraulic oil can be used in practice.
